Injury Facts and Prevention Resources

The Environmental Health and Safety Office (EH&S) believes that injury prevention is a vital part of the Environmental Health and Safety program at UNC Charlotte. Historically, the second quarter of each year is when UNC Charlotte experiences an increase in injuries associated with motor vehicles, office safety, slips, trips and falls, and material handling. The EH&S Office has provided injury facts and prevention resources below to help become proactive and prevent these types of injuries from occurring.

6% - of the injuries involved either being struck by a motor vehicle or having an accident in a motor vehicle. Driving Safety
53% - of all workplace injuries occurred on Mondays or Thursdays. Office Safety
39% - of the workplace injuries occurred from slips, trips and falls, i.e., fall from same level, fall from above, tripping, etc. Slips, Trips and Falls
46% - of the workplace injuries involved materials handling. April through June are the months with the most significant numbers. Materials Handling
